Where it began

The July–August 2024 Revolution

What started as an anti-discrimination student movement to reform the quota system for government jobs quickly became a battleground as the government attacked its own people. Brave citizens took to the streets demanding justice and freedom, only to be met with violence. In the days leading to victory on August 5th, indiscriminate shooting and arson left hundreds injured — rickshaw pullers and street vendors became amputees from gunshot wounds — and countless families lost their livelihoods.

UDAR AID was born from the ashes of that crisis. What began as an urgent response to help injured protesters — in partnership with CSE-DU, Computer Science and Engineering students from Dhaka University — has grown into a humanitarian organization dedicated to rebuilding lives and restoring dignity.

Campaign 1 · Medical

Emergency Medical Attention for the Injured

We provided immediate financial assistance for urgent medical care to revolution survivors hospitalized across Bangladesh. Through our partnership with CSE-DU, we maintained direct communication with patients, assessed their needs, and transferred funds for medications, surgeries, and post-treatment care.

Survivors faced a healthcare crisis — limited access to quality treatment and mounting expenses. Many were breadwinners whose injuries left their families without income.

Campaign 2 · Rehabilitation

Long-Term Rehabilitation Support

From January through June 2025, we committed to sustained monthly support for four severely injured families — a minimum of BDT 10,000 per family each month for food, rent, medical expenses, and children's education while primary earners recover.

Many survivors sustained permanent disabilities requiring long-term care. Without ongoing support, these families faced destitution as medical costs continued while income disappeared.

Emergency relief distribution after the August 2024 floods

Campaign 3 · Relief

Flood Fund Relief

After the catastrophic August 2024 floods in south-eastern Bangladesh, UDAR AID worked in close partnership with Al Asr, a faith-based humanitarian organization, to reach the most affected families in the Noakhali and Feni region — mobilizing resources and deploying teams on the ground for swift distribution of emergency relief.

Tens of thousands were left exposed to hunger and homelessness overnight — communities among the most vulnerable in Bangladesh, often overlooked by mainstream aid.

Iftar meals served during the Ramadan campaign

Campaign 4 · Food

Ramadan & Eid Campaigns

We organized comprehensive Ramadan and Eid support — iftar meals for orphan children, grocery support for day laborers, and Eid meals for needy families — through partnerships with local organizations.

The post-revolution economic crisis made it hard for vulnerable families to observe Ramadan with dignity. We aimed to ensure economic hardship didn't prevent spiritual observance and community celebration.

Madrassa construction project in Kishoreganj

Education

Madrassa Project

Supporting a remote village madrassa in Kishoreganj (Itna Upazilla) to build a permanent school structure for 70+ students from low-income families — a safer, more permanent learning space, especially during monsoon season.

98,289 BDT raised at a New York canvas session and sent for construction
Construction in full swing; total project need is about 3,20,000 BDT

Campaign 5 · Crisis support

Individuals in Crisis

When emergencies struck, donors stepped in — covering urgent medical bills, disability support, and livelihood restoration for vulnerable families. These are their stories.

Helal's Family

Helal, a dedicated salesman and loving family man, passed away from kidney failure — leaving behind $3,000 in medical debt, a young widow, and a 2-year-old daughter. Your donations helped his family through their most vulnerable time.

Mr Motiur

A garments worker at Star Fashion, Ashulia, Motiur's legs and head are full of splinter bullets and he can no longer work. The sole earner for his wife, 3-year-old daughter, mother, and sister, he has returned to his village home in Manikgonj.

Abdul Kader

Injured on August 1, 2024 during a clash with police in Kishorganj, Abdul Kader can no longer walk normally or do basic work. With two sons still in school, UDAR AID's support helped him purchase a Mishuk to restore his livelihood.

Debt & medical costs covered

Shahbuddin

Critically injured by rubber bullets that penetrated his chest through his heart and exited his back, Shahbuddin is the sole breadwinner of a family of four. Funds distributed with Al Asr settled outstanding debts and covered the medical expenses for his recovery.

A Mother's Fight Against Cancer

Life took an unexpected turn for a 50-year-old mother in a small town when she was suddenly diagnosed with cancer. With an elderly husband and small children at home, treatment seemed impossible — until your support covered her first chemotherapy session, giving her a fighting chance.

Paralysis support case

Nur Mohammad

Nur Mohammad, 61, has been paralyzed. His only son — a teenager working as a salesman at a small shop — is all he has to take care of him.

We are providing long-term rehabilitation support to families of the July Revolution, funded largely by Ramadan zakat donations.

Raising support for Matiur's urgent surgery, estimated at 5 lakh BDT.

Mufti Feroz — Back on His Feet

Helping our past sponsorship recipient purchase a laptop so he can complete his technical program and build apps.

Imon — Treatment & Education

Covering ongoing medical treatment and education for 12-year-old Imon, who was shot in the leg during the July protests.

Hatia Flood Relief

Sending emergency aid — food packets, hygiene kits, and shelter support — to families displaced by intense flooding on Hatia Island, Noakhali.

Our first internship program

In June 2025 we launched our first Internship Program in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The pilot became an instant success for both UDAR and its beneficiaries — our ground intern conducts in-person verification of every beneficiary, paving the way for more interns and further growth.
